Domestic and European leisure travel intentions: assessing the role of push motivations, destination safety, travel risk, safety concerns and social risk

Risk is fundamental in the choice, evaluation, and behaviour of tourists, consequently understanding tourists’ shifting preferences toward a destination imperative post-COVID era. Thus, this study aims to examine impact push motivations on intention travel European domestic destination, analyse interrelated effects between components risk perception, test moderating effect perception investigate influence gender educational level. Based 1315 tourists using structural equation modelling, it was possible find that (1) motivation relax acquire knowledge, as safe are predictors travel; (2) knowledge similar trips positively destination; (3) and, indirectly, safety concerns social deterrent factors intentions; (4) doesn’t affect reason why people (5) motivation, intentions or but education level enhances negative risk.
